August 11, 2014 Leave a comment

One of my client upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013, we have already build exchange 2013 for 1 Mailbox and 1 CAS.

Some Mailbox has been moving to New Exchange 2013, users can open their Email using Microsoft Outlook and Office Web Apps.

but if their open using mobile device, the device get something error:

Cannot Get Mail, The connection to the server failed."

the solution is simple you only enable inherited permission security on Active Directory like picture below:

Content Index status of all or most of the mailbox databases in the environment shows "Failed"

August 6, 2014 Leave a comment

The state of Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 content indexes is displayed as "Failed" by Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus, and the associated error message indicates an internal error that occurs with the database or its index (Refer the following screen shot).

image

To resolve the issue, do the following:

  1. Create a new Active Directory group that is named "ContentSubmitters" and then grant Admistrators and NetworkService full access to the group. This is a dummy group and should be used as a placeholder only. You might want to add a description so that the group is not removed.
  2. Force or wait for Active Directory replication.
  3. Stop the following services:
    • Microsoft Exchange Search
    • Microsoft Exchange Search Host Controller
  4. Browse to where the database files are located on the disk. Along with the database file, you will see a folder with a long string as the name. It will have three sub-folders as well. Delete the main folder along with the sub-folders. This is the folder where the index is stored.

5.  Start the Microsoft Exchange Search and Microsoft Exchange Search Host Controller service. Run Start-Service MSExchangeFastSearch and Start-Service HostControllerService if you are into Shell. Give it a minute and a new folder will be created and a new index will be built.

6. check Mailbox database copy status again to verify database healthy
