Create DAG (Database Availability Group) on Exchange 2010


hai guys, I want to share you how to create DAG ( Database Availability Group) on exchange 2010, in my lab, I have implement exchange 2010 multirole CAS, HT and Mailbox

Server Name Role Site IP Production IP Private
DMG-DC001 DC 2008 r2 Default-First-Site-Name 192.168.1.1  
DMG-EXC001 Exchange Multi Role Default-First-Site-Name 192.168.1.3 10.10.10.1
DMG-EXC002 Exchange Multi role Default-First-Site-Name 192.168.1.4 10.10.10.2
DMG-DC002 DC 2008 R2 Brach 192.168.2.1  
DMG-EXC003 Exchange Multirole Brach 192.168.2.2 10.10.10.3

before you implement DAG, you must do prerequisite like below

1. in the builtin administrator you must add exchange trusted sub system in member administrator domain

2. In all your server exchange, you must add member exchange trusted sub system in local administrator

3. Create file share witness, in my lab I create file share witness in DMG-DC001 (Witness) and DMG-DC003 (Witness2).

oke guys, let’s go to start create DAG

open exchange management console > open organization configuration > click Mailbox

click Tab Database Availability Group > New Database Availability Group

in database availability group name, create DAG Name

on witness server, please type where did you create file share witness, in my lab I create file share witness in dmg-dc001.demagnum.com. and I put in drive C:\witness

and click New

click Finish in the completion

after that right click in the new DAG and click Manage database availability group

click Add to add member server.

select mailbox server that you want to add member server, in my lab I add all server exchange

click Manage

click Finish in completion DAG

after that right click in DAG tab database management groups.

I create alternate witness server  and alternate witness directory

and I create two Ip address DAG 192.168.1.6 (DAG Main site) 192.168.2.6 (DAG DRC)

oke your DAG have ready, but it’s not finish you must add mailbox database on all server

right click in the database management

Click Add Mailbox database copy

click Browse

click Add

clip_image002[30]

Click Finish

right click to re add DMG-EXC003

click Finish

please do it again to add mailbox database copy in database DB-Platinum01 and DB-Silver01

now your DAG has ready and use it
