Moving FSMO to Another server


Oke, here I want to share you to moving FSMO Rule to another server, FSMO have 5 rule : RID, PDC, Infrastructure, schema master and domain naming master.

check it out how to moving FSMO rule to another server:

Click Active Directory user and computer > right click Operations Master

Click tab PID and click Change, here I want to change from the server dmg-dc001 to dmg-dc002

if you have confirm to change operation master, click Yes

and now click Tab PDCand click Change

click yes in the confirm

Click Ok

and click Tab Infrastructure, and click Change

and now I want to change domain naming master

and the last I want to change schema master, but before you change schema master you have type regsvr32 schmmgmt.dll in the command prompt to DllRegisterServer

click Ok

and now you can open MMC

click File > Add/Remove snap-in

click Active Directory schema and then click Add and click Ok

right click in the active directory schema and click change active directory domain controller

click in the server that you want to move schema master, and then click Ok

right click again and then choose operation master

click Change

and if you want to know that your servers has moved FSMO Rule, open command prompt and type Netdom query fsmo

    Mantaps…kalo ada server DC yang ngejalanin semua fungsi FSMO down dan belum sempat dipindahkan ke DC yang lain apa yang terjadi ya?

    ya ada beberapa fungsi yang ga jalan, tapi ketika DC pemegang FSMO down, kita masih bisa pindahin paksa…
